During our recent AGM, the TFNC has formally appointed the following to our 2025 Executive Committee:

Co-Presidents: Lachie Young and Luke Baker.
Lachie recently joined the Executive Committee as Secretary where he demonstrated his ability to be a tireless worker both behind the scenes and on the front-line.
A business owner and long term supporter of the club, Lachie steps in to the top job with a strong club-first approach.
Luke Baker is another long term support of the club, both by way of sponsorship along with a number of years supporting our netball and junior football sections. Like his counterpart in Lachie Young, Luke is a successful business owner who knows how lead from the front.

Vice President: Jason Stein.
A long term member and past player, Jason was inducted as a life member in 2023. A tireless worker who always puts the club first, this will be his second season in the role.

Secretary: Monique Fleming (new).

Treasurer: Jana Clack (returning).

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing President Craig Jacka who, as we know, has served many years on the Executive Committee. Craig is a passionate supporter of the TFNC and, under his leadership, has been part of many successful years.

The TFNC are excited to officially welcome both Dylan Jose and Kane Higgins to the Tigers for season 2025.

Dylan's resume speaks for himself.
The midfield bull is a former Lara captain after playing 117 games at the top level of local Geelong football, and brings with him not only leadership but the ability to hit the scoreboard having averaged more than a goal per game over many seasons.

Kane is another quality addition to the squad.
Last playing for Lara in 2022, he's been a regular senior player in the GFL over many years who also suited up for St Mary's and the Geelong Falcons in a decorated career.

Patty Knott joins us from Wimmera FNL club Horsham Saints where he has starred for the past two seasons.
Patty comes to the Tigers with significant high level experience including the GFL and SANFL, while we may recognise him from lining up against us in our 2018 premiership season where he kicked 33 goals in 14 games for Bannockburn.

Once again, a Paul Lynch masterclass has led our Senior side to victory over a more fancied opponent.
After recording our first victory against Werribee this season in last weeks Semi Final, the boys have done the job again, this time against minor premier East Geelong who got the chocolates on both occasions prior.

In a fiercely contested match, neither side could break-away however goals each to Billie Smedts and Lucas Boyd in the final quarter sealed the game and progressed the Thomson Tigers to back-to-back grand finals.

This will be our third grand final appearance since our last premiership in 2018. which is four of the last five completed seasons...an astonishing achievement in itself regardless of the outcome.
The players and club alike will be embracing the festivities grand final week brings so we implore our supporters to come on down to Town & Country Pizza Oval and get around the squad before the big dance!

Our Men's Senior Footballers are one win away from back-to-back grand final appearances after an emphatic win against Werribee Centrals.

After handing us two comprehensive losses in the regular season, Paul Lynch and his men turned the table when it mattered the most; giving Werribee their biggest defeat of the season to see them end their campaign in straight sets.

After keeping Werribee to only 3.8 when kicking with a significant breeze in the first and third quarters, we entered the final change with an 11 point lead (and the wind).
At this point, the boys turned on the afterburners to register 17 scoring shots to 1, and a comprehensive 60 point win.

We now turn our attention to local rivals East Geelong this coming Saturday for a spot in the Grand Final against Belmont Lions.

In other news, unfortunately our U13 netballers season has come to an end with a two point loss to East Geelong in their respective semi-final yesterday.
In what was absolutely horrible conditions for both sides, the girls fought right to the end but couldn't quite get over the line. The club is super proud of all their achievements this season and would like to thank the players, parents, coaches and support staff for everything.

Congratulations to our very own Phoebe Monahan and Emily Kenshole who were recognized for their outstanding respective seasons in last nights AFL Barwon Female Football Awards Night.

💜Phoebe Monahan: Division 1 Runner Up Best & Fairest. Playing just eight games for the season, Phoebe took away the Runner Up award, trailing eventual winner Janessa Fitzgerald by a solitary vote after the final round concluded (which she was unavailable for). Phoebe was also named in the forward line of the Coaches Team of the Year.

💛Emily Kenshole: Division 1 Leading Goal Kicker. After taking out last years Division 2 award, Emily once again proved to be the standout forward with 27 goals (37 inc. grading). Emily was also named in the forward line in the Coaches Team of the Year.

💜Teagan Tatlock: While not taking home any individual accolades, Teagan came fourth overall in the Division 1 Best & Fairest! Another ultra consistent season for one of our star players!

As we head into the final regular season game for 2024 against Werribee Centrals at Town & Country Pizza oval, let’s take a quick look at how each of our senior teams are shaping in the race for the top 5.

🏉SENIOR FOOTBALL
Essentially a dead-rubber, we can finish as high as 4th or drop to 5th. Either way, we’ll be featuring next Sunday in an Elimination Final.

🏉RESERVES FOOTBALL
Out of the mix. Will be looking to continue a strong month with our match up against top-of-ladder Werribee.

🏐A GRADE NETBALL
Similar to the Reserves, will be hoping to round out the season by banking two wins in-a-row against sides above us.

🏐B GRADE NETBALL
Simple equation; win and we play off in an Elimination Final. Lose, and we’ll be relying on 4th placed Winchelsea to defeat 6th placed East Geelong.

🏐C GRADE NETBALL
Guaranteed finals. A win could see us finish as high as 3rd. A loss will keep us locked into 5th and an Elimination Final.

🏐D GRADE NETBALL
Mathematically still a chance but will rely on two things; beat Werribee and hope 10th placed Corio defeat 5th placed GWG.

With only three rounds to go, the GDFNL section travel out to North Geelong this coming Saturday.
The Senior men will be looking at continuing their strong form as they push towards consecutive finals births. The Reserves are out of contention however they’ll be wanting to carry their momentum into the last few weeks.
Over on the Netball courts, B & C grade are still within striking distance of the double-chance but like D grade, need to keep winning to be guaranteed a spot in the top 5.
A grade won't be featuring at St Albans for the first time in a while, however have the opportunity to shake things up with aspirants Corio and Werribee in the last two rounds.
Our Women footballers will be rounding out the season with a home game on Sunday (12pm) against Torquay. We want to see a huge showing for their last match of the year!

Last weekend was highlighted by the GDFNL footballers. Starting at midday, the Reserves came away with an exciting 9-point win over last years Premiers, putting a slight dent into their finals hopes. The Seniors then continued the trend with a massive last quarter, eventually pulling away from Inverleigh to win by 42 points…making it three must-win games for the reigning Premiers if they’re to feature at the pointy end of the season.
Inverleigh had a better showing in Netball, with only our C grade side coming away with the W. This has us drawing level with them on points in third spot.

The TNFC are once again hosting the GDFNL Match of the Round at Town & Country Pizza Oval as we welcome Inverleigh this coming Saturday.
It's shaping up to be season-defining; The Senior Men now holding a six point buffer inside the top five, however a loss will see them a mere half-a-game clear of the Hawks entering into the final three rounds.
Across on the netball courts, B, C and D grades all come up against fellow top 5 aspirants. Victories will give our B and C girls a spot at the double chance while a loss in D grade makes the run-home crucial with GWG nipping at our heels.
Our sensational Women footballers have one last bye before they enter the final round of the season.

The past weekend was highlighted by our marquee sides in by far the worst conditions we've had all season.
The Senior Men fought off a late challenge to secure a 28 point victory against fellow finals aspirant Bannockburn, A Grade netball came away with a draw to the finals bound Tigers and the Women footballers returned serve to Barwon Heads after an earlier loss in the season.

Following the split round bye, our GDFNL section will be at Town & Country Pizza Oval to take on the country Tigers in what shapes as HUGE clash for our Senior men.

Last weekend had our all-conquering Women footballers host a previously undefeated Grovedale side.
In a seesawing contest, it came down to the last 40 seconds where we were able to kick a clutch goal to take a four point lead. The siren sounded before the next play and the girls had turned around a heart-breaking Round 1 result in our favour.

Bek Lebish was the star, with Phoebe Monahan chiming in with two goals and a case of leather poisoning.
This Sunday they'll travel down to Barwon Heads looking to make further impacts to the make-up of the top four with only a handful of games to go.

With no points to play for but the ability to shake up the finals, come on down and support the women as they approach the conclusion of the season!

With all but one game having the weekend off across AFL Barwon, the GDFNL will be the marquee league on display this weekend.
A mouth watering clash presents itself as we take on traditional rivals East Geelong on the other side of the roundabout.
Our women, with the bye, will have a well-earned rest before embarking on the run home.

The previous weekend kicked off with a trip down to Winchelsea as we came home with a mixture of results;
The Senior footballers won in a seesawing tussle. Storming home in the last quarter with a blistering six goals to run out 13-point victors. The important win keeps them within arm’s reach of a top 3 finish.
The Reserves went down by a solitary point against 5th spot. A snap out of the pack from the boundary going through for a behind and sealing the game for Winch with only a minute left on the clock. The result demonstrates how close this season is however despite this, they remain in 10th position and three wins off the pace.

Across on the netball courts, A grade pushed 3rd place all the way but ultimately fell short by 1 goal. B have themselves within two points of a double chance after winning by 7. C grade had a heartbreaking tie against former Thomson A grader Mel Philpott while D grade were no match for 4th place, going down by 25.

On Sunday, our Women footballers sought to make amends for a pre-season loss to St Mary’s. Despite a tight struggle in the first quarter, the game (and the heavens) opened up as we came away with a commanding 47 point win. This makes it 5 in-a-row for Cav and the girls.

Performance Highlights:
🏉Logan Mitchell returning from a long-term injury to produce a ‘Jahd Anderson’ like performance (according to one of the match day volunteers)
🏉Jayden Spiteri being literally everywhere in a huge outing at 12pm
🏉Phoebe Monahan was electric across every inch of the ground, while Emily Kenshole extended her lead in the goal kicking with another three added
🏐Shae Rowbottom again putting together a best-on performance for the club
🏐CJ Willis nailing best-on in an important win for B grade

This weekend the GDFNL sides travel down the highway to Winchelsea off the back of a clean sweep for all seven of our senior teams.
On Sunday, our Women footballers return to Town & Country Pizza Oval to take on St Mary’s off the back of some strong recent form, having strung four wins in a row.

Last Round kicked off on a chilly Friday night at Lara where our Women continued their rich vein of form with a convincing 36 point win.
Saturday came around and the rest of the seniors travelled to Bell Post Hill to come away with six-from-six to our advantage.

PERFORMANCE HIGHLIGHTS:
🏉Jacob Knight and Darcy Troop combining for 11 goals, kicking 6 and 5 respectively in the Seniors.
🏉Emily Kenshole booting another bag, this time 6, to have 15 goals in the last three games and gaining an outright lead in the league goal kicking.
🏐No bests were entered for the netball however we’re sure there were some ‘best ons’ during and after our club Ball on Saturday night!

This weekend sees the entire Senior section travel away for their respective matches.
The GDFNL sides are off to Bell Post Hill in what looms as must win games for all, while our Women footballers are a little further down the road on Friday night against Lara at 7:30.

Last weekend kicked off on Saturday with a mixed bag of results in celebrating over 1000 games worth of milestones across both football and netball.

Senior men's, B, C & D all came away with crucial wins while A grade and Reserve's football both suffered the narrowest of defeats.

The biggest talking point however was our Women footballers who, in celebrating Pride Round, came away with a resounding 35 point win over reigning premiers Geelong Ammos!!

Performance Highlights:
🏉 Lucas Boyd jumping in to third spot on the league goal kicking with another bag of four to turn the game our way in the last quarter

Sam Jacka is the fairytale story of an ultimate club person....from watching on as waterboy during a premiership dynasty to holding the cup as a premiership captain, Sam has achieved what every young person would ever dream of in local football.

Running out tomorrow for an incredible 250 senior games is no mean feat, considering Sam has been a one-club player (despite multiple offers to play elsewhere) while injuries and Covid have impacted over recent years.

It's not just his longevity in the 2pm game that sets him apart; he has many accolades to look back on fondly in years to come:

Rounding out an incredible 800 games worth of netball milestones this weekend is fan favorite Megan James!

Megan commenced her career in juniors many years ago at Thomson and is one of our only players to win both Junior and Senior premierships at the club in her career. Megan is a quiet achiever of the team and club however her achievements speak volumes for her contribution. On top of a B grade league B&F she has taken out multiple club best & fairest awards, most recently in 2022 while also in 2021 she was the GDFNL C Grade R/UP B&F. She has also stepped into the coaching space, leading our U13 side in 2023, and our development teams since 2022. This is a well deserved accolade for one our longest serving players, working her way through the junior ranks and then playing across three grades, A, B & C across her career at Thomson.

You may not get much out of her, but be sure to give Megan a huge congratulations when you see her take the court for game number 250 tomorrow!

Third up is the evergreen Michelle Hamann who plays an incredible 250 games this weekend.

Michelle has been with our club since 2002, playing her first senior A Grade game at the age of 18. Michelle is a four-time premiership player (A, B & D), and a premiership coach, leading D grade to their most recent premiership in 2019.
Mish as we call her, has won many personal awards at the club over her time, and since returning from a three-year hiatus this season, has demonstrated her skills, experience and versatility playing across 3 grades; B, C and D, and is stepping on to the court in A Grade this weekend....completing a full house just mid-way through the season!

In our second installment, we want to acknowledge and congratulate A grade coach Shannyn Leach who will also take the court in game number 150 for Thomson.

Shan is an A & B Grade premiership player, coached our B Grade side to a premiership last year and is one of just three players at our club to win a GDFNL Margaret Webb medal.
Shan has been leading our A Grade team since 2018 and has stepped back onto the A Grade court again this year, playing across A and B in 2024. Shan is one of our most loved members at Thomson.

In one for the record books, Shan also played game number 300 at St Josephs in August of 2016 (YES, 8 years ago)! While we cannot confirm it, Shan would have to be in the upper echelon of games played in the region...with no signs of slowing down.

We can't wait to welcome Shan back from a mid-season getaway to celebrate this milestone tomorrow!

In in our first installment of a blockbuster weekend of game milestones, we want to acknowledge and congratulate Errin Lang who will take the court in game number 150 for Thomson.

Errin started calling Thomson home in 2016, and has celebrated three premierships since; A Grade in 2017 and B Grade in 2022 & 2023.
In 2017 she took out the club best & fairest while also coming runner-up in the Margaret Webb medal. The following year she went one better to be crowned the winner of the Margaret Webb medal. Errin has made the GDFNL Team of the Year and had the honor of being awarded the 'Donna McLeod' medal in 2023.
This year, if she isn't on the court playing, she will be supporting the Junior program as a Coaching Mentor, and you will also see her on the sidelines dressed in white.

An amazing and passionate member of our club, we could not be more proud of the contribution she has made to Godfrey Street throughout her time in the Purple & Gold.

A 7 goal to 1 first half set up a convincing 50 point victory as Emily Kenshole had her kicking boots on, slamming home 6 goals while Phoebe Monahan starred in a BOG performance.

The TFNC will be welcoming Corio to Town & Country Pizza Oval on Saturday in what shapes up to be a crucial clash across the grades.
We'd also like to take this opportunity to send our best wishes to Corio star Joel Bennett who sustained a nasty spinal injury on the weekend. The TFNC and the wider GDFNL community are right behind you and hope for a speedy recovery.

Our Women footballers will play their first round of the regular season against Grovedale at Burdoo Reserve from 2pm on Sunday. Make sure you get up and support Cav and the girls against last years Division 1 grand finalists!

Last weekend saw a mixed bag for the club, with our Senior footballers going down in a thriller by one point. At 12pm the Reserve's kicked themselves out of it, losing by 22 points with a 5.10 effort but are showing promising improvement each week.

The netballers had a fairer showing however....
A grade made it back-to-back wins with a comfortable 26 goal victory, B grade went down by one, C grade couldn't match a superior North Geelong outfit while D grade snuck home in what was another close match on Saturday; leading by two at the final whistle.

This weekend will see us return home after a grueling three weeks on the road as we take on a much improved North Geelong outfit. It also marks our first match under the 'Town & Country Pizza Oval' banner.

The Senior men returned to the top 5 after a stunning win over last years premiers Inverleigh. We went in to the game further undermanned after more injuries from the previous week but Lynchy's crew, complimented by a number of raw youngsters, came our firing from the opening bounce.
The Reserves weren't able to match it at 12pm however showed promising signs to outscore their opponent after half time. Keep sticking together and the results will soon come!

Our A grade women are hoping that their first win for the season kick starts some momentum, with continuity starting to show in what is a largely new squad still finding their groove.

B grade posted a solid win to keep their hopes of another premiership alive, while C & D will be looking to bounce back against the historically strong North Geelong lower grades this Saturday.

The Women's footballers can put their feet up for another week with their season starting in Round 2 after a second consecutive week off.

Our GDFNL section travel out to Inverleigh for the last of our three-match road trip, while our Women's footballers have a bye after finishing their grading matches 3-1.

Both the Senior and Reserves footballers lowered their colors to a much improved Belmont Lions outfit last weekend. Belmont's two football sides are both sitting undefeated in their respective grades which was evident in their performances on the weekend.
Our Senior men will be suiting up in the 2023 Grand Final replay so pack the car and make the trip to Inverleigh in what is going to be an exciting day of football.

Our netballers had far better results going 3/4 however our A graders are still looking to get their season kick-started.
Our thoughts go out to recruit Ebony Harris who suffered a severe knee injury during her A grade match. If you see Ebs around, please make sure you get around her and show her your support.

Our women footballers continued their strong showing in the AFL Barwon grading matches, defeating last years Div 3 premiers Modewarre 81-0.
Cav and the girls are eagerly awaiting the final divisional allocation before they get stuck in to the regular season from next week.

Today we celebrate one of Thomson's favorite sons who will run out for his 300th open-aged game against the Belmont Lions.

The Macleod name has always been synonymous with the Thomson Tigers and non more so than that of Jackson, who has forged a reputation as one of the best GDFNL footballers of the modern era.

Not many can lay claim to what Jacko has achieved in his footballing career. Whether it be premierships, interleague representation, VCFL representation, countless league team-of-the-year accolades and of course his Thomson FNC life membership in 2023.

When the feisty youngster first ran out in the 2pm game in his early teens, little did we know that we were witnessing the commencement of what would turn out to be one of the most decorated players in TFNC and GDFNL history.

Wearing his heart on his sleeve when he crosses on to the field (including a 'few' indiscretions that have prolonged hitting this milestone), not many would argue that he would still give you the shirt off his back if needed, such is the persona that Jacko has held steady for many years.

A senior career that has spanned over multiple decades, Jacko celebrates game 300 after returning from a lengthy injury that halted his 2023 campaign.

Congratulations Jacko....we couldn't be more proud of you and let's hope it's not too long until you play your 300th Thomson game!!

The A grade netballers will be searching for their first win of the season while B, C & D will all be looking to continue their momentum after strong wins last Saturday.

Congratulations to our new netball Vice Captains for C and D Grade, Naomi Baker and Rennae Freeman.

Naomi joined our club in the first season of netball in the GDFNL and has been a constant fixture around the club since then. She calls out winning the GDFNL 2002 Women's Grand Final Gift as career highlight. In all seriousness, Naomi was the first A Grade BnF winner, and the first A Grade player to play 100 games. She has added many more individual trophies to the cabinet since then and has the whole club behind her as she chases that elusive premiership one more time.

Rennae joined the club in 2018 alongside her brother Daniel, and sister Jess. In 2019 she won her first premiership in D Grade, with her sister beside her, and was awarded the coaches award in the same season for her commitment and passion to the team.
She stepped aside in the latter part of the season pending the arrival of her first daughter. Her love and joy shone brightly as she celebrated the Grand Final win with her team!

Congratulations to Claudia Sextus who has been selected as B Grade Captain for Season 2024. Claudia started her netball career in juniors for the North Warrnambool Eagles in the Hampden League and made her way to their Division 1 team before departing to start University in Geelong.

Claudia has spent her years as a goaler and her first season with Thomson in 2023 was no different as she goaled her way to a premiership! The club is very lucky to have another great role model in Claudia as she leads the B grade side this season!

Congratulations to Hannah Magee who has been selected as D Grade Captain for Season 2024. At 20 years of age, Hannah is coming up to her 11th season at the club, with over 150 games to her credit. She has won Club BnF twice, most recently in 2019, and brings lots of experience to the team, having played finals across all junior grades, and being part of the D Grade premiership side in 2019 alongside her Aunt and Hall of Fame Member, Danielle Baker.

She stepped into the coaching space over the summer and is excited to be coaching U15s as they return to the comp this year. You will also see Hannah on the sidelines as one our Netball Trainers and on the club committee representing the netball program.

Congratulations to Errin Lang who has been selecte

Congratulations to Errin Lang who has been selected as C Grade Captain for Season 2024. Errin started calling Thomson home in 2016, and has celebrated two premierships since, A Grade in 2017, and B Grade in 2023. She has also taken out R/Up Magaret Webb medal and club BnF in 2017, and winner of the Margaret Webb medal in 2018. She has made the Team of the year and had the honor of being awarded the 'Donna McLeod' medal in 2023. This year, if she isn't on the court playing, she will be supporting the Junior program as a Coaching Mentor, and you will also see her on the sidelines dressed in white!

Congratulations to Julia Philbey who has been selected as A Grade Captain for Season 2024. Julia joins us this year, having recently playing A Grade at Queenscliff in the BFL.

Julia is an experienced defender, playing VNL for the Geelong Cougars, and captaining A Grade sides at Barwon Heads and Queenscliff. She is a premiership player and has won many personal accolades throughout the years including BnF’s. The club is thrilled to have Julia on board and leading the A Grade side in season 2024!
